Dmitry Vansovich, a winner of the  regional contest and a prize winner of the republican contest of computer games “Patriot.by” is leaning towards grandmasters’ strategy. Although he can’t play chess.

A ten-grade pupil of Benyakoni secondary school Dmitry Vansovich with the help of his teacher Vladimir Anatolyevich Vusik created a computer game based on real historical events of a large-scale operation “Bagration” for a short period of time. All in all it took him twenty days to realize the idea.

  • Only a fan , a deeply passionate person can do it. Dima has wonderful abilities of a programmer, mathematical thinking, immense persistence, multilateral development, - Vladimir Anatolyevich gives characteristic of the pupil. The man knows his aim.


Dima works out different variants of approaching his aim and constantly revises them depending on changing conditions. He works hard and not only on school programme. His every achievement, even if it is not big is a stimulus for his further development. This is probably his strategy.

From communication with him I can say that the boy is shy and not very talkative. But as he turns to the computer screen – he feels as a fish in the water. He operates IT-terms freely, his eyes shine brightly and fingers cleverly control the keyboard.

War is a typically man’s choice, I thought. It turned out to be different. Operation “Bagration” is an online strategy in real time. The game emulates the actions of the Soviet Union and the Reich on the territory of Belarus in 1944. The names of the armies and fronts are not fictional, historical content is used. Two players can fight at the same time, besides a confrontation side is randomly assigned. The flag and the name of the country, the number of territories and the menu are displayed on the screen: technologies, factories, economy of both sides and support of other countries. The developer has taken into account the level of the player: from beginner to professional.

The game is becoming popular with Benyakoni schoolchildren and teachers. Yes, yes, not only children are interested in it. By the way, it will be useful to look through history books before the battles. We should say that all 50 works, submitted to the competition reflected historically-cultural heritage of Belarusian people. The children are proud of the heroic past of their native country and express these feelings in their own way.

Belarusian large-scale operation “Bagration” was held on the 23d of June – 29th of August 1944. As a result of the offensive of the Red Army at the front of 1,100 kilometers, advancement of troops to a depth of 600 kilometers was achieved.
