The place where you want to come back again and again
When planning theirs vacation, many Belarusians look for interesting and beautiful places of the country where they can feel mental pleasure and join the history of native place. Are you one of them? Then be sure to plan a trip to Stolbtsy district. The interactive history park-museum "Sula" is located 49 kilometres from Minsk.
Right “from the doorstep” you get the feeling that in Sula an incredible journey back in time waites for you. And indeed after some time you lose touch with the present and feel like a time-traveller.
The route is designed in such a way that the tourist faces with the landmarks of Belarusian history. This is not a bad idea to make a review of the territory on a Viking boat down the river, taking a look around the surroundings, to make an imaginary map of the traveller.
It is better to make your trip from the cromlech - the construction of the Late Neolithic or Early Bronze Age. You may agree that it is logical to take the first step from the most "ancient" place. The reconstructed temple leaves very vivid emotions. Here you can not just find out what gods our ancestors worshipped and what they believed in, but you can also go through a ceremony of purification by fire and try to imagine, what a person once felt at such a moment.
Pride of the history of our native land is what you feel when watching expositions dedicated to education and enlightenment on our lands, acquaintance with the Statute of the Grand Duchy of Lithuania, the Hall of gentry glory.
Of course, in no case can you miss the museum of the ex-owners of Sula is the Lensky family to get acquainted with the glorious gentry family and with their tragic fate. The tomb-rotunda deserves separate words. It contains many secrets that are gradually being discovered by enthusiastic historians. Its significant decoration is a miraculous and unique icon of the XVII century.
It is impossible to convey in a photo and in a word all the emotions that the interactive museum of history evokes. As they say, it's better to see once than hear a hundred times. The Stolbtsovsky district is rich in memorable places. In the town of Stolbtsy, you can see the Church of St. Anna, the building of the railway station of the early twentieth century. In Vishnevets it is worth visiting the Uniate Church of the Nativity of John the Baptist, in Novym Sverzhani— the Church of Saints Peter and Paul (XVII century), in agro-township Rubezhevichi the Church preserved of St. Joseph and the stone garden.
“The Kolasovsky Nature Reserve” is located in the district. — the memorial estates in the places where the writer Yakub Kolas was born, lived and worked. It is worth to visiting the museums in Akincitsy, Smolna, Laska, Albuti. The estates are united into a single memorial complex, there is a collection of wooden topical figures “the way of Kolas".
In the Dzerzhinsk estate there is a memorial museum in honor of F.E. Dzerzhinsky, who was born and grew up in the disctict.
